Tristania is a Gothic Metal band from Norway. All the members live near near Stavanger - a small city in the Southwest part of the country. In the very beginning they had no female vocalist, but they were lucky to find Vibeke Stene. Her outstanding voice was ideal for the music they wanted to play in the future.

The first demo CD was recorded and self-released in May 1997 in only 500 copies. The CD was intended for promotional purposes only and due to its small budget suffered from poor sound quality.

Despite this, the major Austrian record company Napalm Records offered to them a contract and gave the band the opportunity to materialize their huge potentialities. The Demo was re-mixed and re-mastered. It was followed by two other albums, one single CD and a live video album.
